Abstract
The relation between God and truth is the object of long controversies over the course of its long history. This article focuses on certain strange texts from Aquinas’ Summa theologiae. It explores surprising metaphysical, epistemological and ethical anomalies for people unfamiliar with these texts but used to the textbook resumes of a mythological Aquinas. In order to make it possible to think afresh the old expression of truth as adaequatio rei et intellectum, it reads and interprets texts pertaining a) to truth in relation to God as knower of the created world and in relation to our capacity to articulate true judgments concerning God and the world; b) to God as truthful Truth revealing itself as faithful; c) to truth in human interaction when God lies at the horizon of these.
