Résumé

Le siècle classique assiste à un éclatement du genre ancien de l'art poétique : s'il s'en écrit de nouveaux, ceux de Colletet ou de Boileau par exemple, ils sont travaillés par une tension de plus en plus forte entre la représentation idéalisée de la poésie et l'inventaire méthodique des règles, en même temps que la réflexion dont ils étaient le lieu privilégié se diffuse dans une constellation de textes autres. Les querelles littéraires qui jalonnent le siècle favorisent cette mutation.

Abstract

The classical movement in France witnessed the shattering of the ancient genre of the arspoetica.Insofar as new exemplars of the type are produced (for example, by Colletet and Boileau), they are dominated by an increasingly powerful tension between the idealized representation of poetry and a methodical inventory of rules. At the same time, the reflection, of which the arspoeticahad traditionally been the genre of choice, is gradually channelled into other types of literary expression. The literary quarrels that convulsed the age fostered this transformation.
