De la pureté du don. Contribution à un débat
Partant d'une critique qu'Éric Schwimmer a formulée à l'endroit de J. T. Godbout et A. Caillé, nous nous efforçons de distinguer deux formes « pures » du don, conçu d'abord comme forme d'échange distincte du rapport marchand, puis comme geste gratuit et désintéressé. Cette distinction permet, dans un premier temps, d'apprécier la valeur méthodologique de l'opposition don-marché, tout en évitant de se prononcer sur les intentions des individus. Dans un second temps, nous retraçons brièvement l'apparition de cette opposition dans la société occidentale, et comment l'idée du don désintéressé a permis de penser le don comme forme générale d'échange.

Abstract
The Purity of the Cift. Contribution to a Debate
A critique formulated by Éric Schwimmer concerning the book written by J. T. Godbout and A. Caille brings me to distinguish between two forms of " pure " gift, conceived first as a form of exchange distinct from market relations, then as a free and desinterested gesture. Through this distinction we can better appreciate the methodological value of the opposition between gift and market, without pondering over individual motives. Then we try to recapture the emergence of this opposition within western societies, and how the idea of desinterested gift has brought us to think of thé gift as the generalised form of exchange.
