Airianna Murdoch-Fyke earned her Bachelor of Social Science (B.Soc.Sci), Honours in Economics and Political Science from the University of Ottawa (2016), followed by her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Ottawa (2021). Airianna also received her Qualified Arbitrator (Q.ARB) designation in 2022. She was called to the Bar in Ontario in June 2022. Social justice and community development are strong areas of interest for Airianna. Airianna has worked as a harm reduction worker at a supervised injection site, reversing opioid overdoses within vulnerable communities. Airianna has also worked for the Humanitarian Law division of the Canadian Red Cross. Currently, Airianna is the Chair on the Board of Directors for the Huron Women’s Shelter. Airianna is a strong feminist, focusing her research on sexual violence. In 2019, Airianna published an article, “Rape in the Democratic Republic of Congo: A Gendered Approach to the Proliferation of Sexualized Violence Against Children”, in the academic journal, Allons-y: Journal of Children, Peace and Security. Airianna was part of the Independent External Comprehensive Review of Sexual Misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of National Defence.
