A graduate in political science, civil law and common law of McGill University, Elisabeth Patterson is a lawyer, practicing commercial law as well as law relating to Indigenous peoples, governance and the protection of culture. Since 2010, she is a partner at Dionne Schulze law firm in Montreal, Canada. She is a volunteer with Lawyers without Borders Canada (LWBC) and was asked by the organization to witness the first week of the Rios Montt trial (March 19-23, 2013, the trial lasting until May 10) and the last week of the Sepur Zarco trial (February 24-26, 2016, and March 2, the trial taking place February 1st to 26 and March 2nd).
