The primary data analyzed in this paper are drawn from a survey by the research network on the Changing Nature of Work and Lifelong Learning (WALL) funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) from 2002 through 2006 as a Collaborative Research Initiative on the New Economy (Project No. 512-2002-1011). A prior version of this paper was presented at the “Restructuring Work and Labour in the New Economy: Exploring Resistance and Alternatives” Conference, York University, Toronto, March 2-4, 2006. The research in this paper was funded by the Research Alliance on “Restructuring Work and Labour in the New Economy” at York University.
