Abstract
This comparative study (ID children and non ID) aims to verify the link between emotion understanding and inhibition (emotional and executive) based on direct (computerized tasks) and indirect (parent questionnaire) measures. Two groups of children (N total = 32), matched for mental age, completed a test of emotion understanding (global approach) and two Stroop tasks (emotional and verbal). Parents completed a questionnaire on comportemental inhibition. The results showed that children with an ID have the same level of understanding of emotions than non ID. However, correlational analyses showed differences between groups in the relationships amongst variables. The results suggest different developmental dynamics for children with and without ID.
