Abstract
There are many definitions of resilience and tools to measure it. This article presents a reproducible approach, illustrated with a concrete example, that aims to ensure consistency between the chosen definition of resilience, the objectives of a program to be evaluated, and the tools to measure the impact of such a program on this resilience. The proposed approach is inspired by the conceptual analysis stages of Walker and Avant (2011). Using this methodology, a framework for studying employee resilience is proposed in which resilience is conceptualized as a dynamic, interactive, and contextual process that combines four essential components: 1-significant chronic adversity, 2-a resilience mechanism (coping process), 3-resilience resources of individuals and their environment that facilitate this mechanism, 4-resilient issues adapted to the context to ensure well-being. The identification of attributes relevant to each of the components made it possible to formulate a conceptual definition adapted to youth protection workers. Empirical tools were identified to test the impact of a stress management program on the resilience of youth protection workers. The conceptual framework can be used in studies seeking to better understand the resilience of youth protection workers and to assess the impact of intervention programs on their resilience. The steps of the conceptual analysis can be replicated to develop adapted conceptual definitions suitable for evaluating other worker resilience programs and to identify resilience factors that need to be fostered.
