Biographical note
Tina Carlisi is an artist whose work explores the potential of print as a socially engaged art and design practice. She often investigates the relationship between individual and collective expression of ideas and ideals with text and image emerging as central components. Carlisi holds a B.F.A. and a Graduate Certificate in Design, an M.A. in Art Education, and recently started her doctoral studies in the Individualized Program (Fine Arts) at Concordia University.
Carlisi’s practice-based Master’s thesis explored how art and design were used as part of the 2012 student movement in Québec and investigated its relationship to experimental post-secondary art/design pedagogy. The artistic components of her research were shown in a solo exhibition at Nowhere Gallery in Montréal in May 2013. Prior to graduate studies, Carlisi worked as a professional designer in an interior architecture firm in Montréal. She currently works in various cultural fields that include contemporary art galleries and teaching in design.
