Abstract
What management of change means when it has to cope with the unexpected dimensions of events ? This paper introduces a theoretical framework, which shows the range of a planned management of change and makes a distinction between two types of events. Micro events belong to a continuous flow of differentiations and are out of reach of management of change. Macro events are discontinuous episodes originated by the management to monitor organizational evolution. Such macro events are interpretations from the past and normative guidelines for institutional evolution into expected future. Management of change operated by Le Comité des Champs-Elysées shows the interactions between macro and micro events and the tensions between the logics of banalizing and prestige.
