La unidad francesa truc o la vaguedad semántica desde una perspectiva argumentativa y traductológica

Résumé

Certaines unités lexicales se trouvant dans un contexte spécifique se caractérisent néanmoins par des contours sémantiques vagues et imprécis, qui exigent un effort interprétatif considérable et rendent difficile leur traduction dans d’autres langues. Cette imprécision inhérente à certains mots peut, selon le cas, être associée à un point de vue positif, négatif ou neutre, ce qui laisse entrevoir le positionnement du locuteur à l’égard de son propos. S’appuyant sur des concepts développés dans le cadre de la Théorie de l’argumentation dans la langue, selon Anscombre et Ducrot, et de la Sémantique des points de vue, selon Raccah, la présente étude constitue une réflexion sur l’importance de la détermination des points de vue cristallisés dans les mots du lexique afin d’en resituer toutes les nuances lors de la traduction d’un texte. Ainsi, à partir d’une analyse contrastive de l’unité française truc et ses traductions en espagnol et en catalan dans un corpus littéraire, nous proposons d’examiner les instructions sémantiques de base des expressions employées comme équivalents de truc dans les textes d’arrivée et de déterminer les conséquences de leur emploi dans la construction du sens du nouveau texte.

Abstract

Some lexical units, despite appearing in a particular context, have fuzzy semantic borders, which are rather difficult to interpret and which make them difficult to translate into other languages. This vagueness inherent to certain words may additionally be associated with a positive, negative or neutral point of view, which hints at the speaker’s attitude regarding the subject he is talking about. Based on conceptual tools taken from the Theory of Argumentation within Language, according to Anscombre and Ducrot, and from the Semantics of Points of View, according to Raccah, the aim of the present study is to reflect upon the importance of identifying crystallized points of view in the words of lexicon in order to take them into account when it comes to translating a text from one language into another. Therefore, using as our starting point a contrastive analysis of the French word unit truc and its translations into Spanish and Catalan in a literary corpus, we mean to identify the basic semantic instructions of the lexical expressions propounded as equivalents of truc in the target texts. From this we can determine the consequences of their use in constructing meaning in the new text.
