Biographical note
René Rusch graduated with honours in piano performance from Lawrence University and completed her doctorate in music theory at the University of Michigan. She was appointed Assistant Professor of Music Theory at McGill University in 2009. In addition to specialising in the music of Franz Schubert, René’s research interests include Schenkerian theory, narratology, and jazz theory. Her paper “Rethinking Conceptions of Unity: Schubert’s Moment Musical in A-Flat Major, D. 780” is forthcoming in the journal Music Analysis.
