Intermédialité et interperformativité Web Last Entry: Bombay, 1stJuly... A Travel Log through Time, Space and Identity de Andrea Zapp

L’art numérique hybride ayant été négligé jusqu’ici dans la recherche sur l’intermédialité, l’auteur interroge ce type de transformation dans un site Web dirigé par l’artiste allemande Andrea Zapp, Last Entry: Bombay, 1 st July...a Travel Log through Time, Space and Identity (1996-98), qui est basé sur un roman de Virginia Woolf, Orlando (1928). La naissance du sujet genré dans un environnement virtuel nécessiterait un élargissement de l’esthétique occidentale vers le développement d’un discours sur l’art numérique qui réfléchirait sur la performance spatiale entre l’usager et le médium et entre les médias eux-mêmes, c’est-à-dire une interperformativité kinesthétique.

Abstract

Hybrid digital art having been neglected by scholars of intermediality, the author inquires into this type of transformation by analyzing a Web site designed by the German artist Andrea Zapp, Last Entry: Bombay, 1 st July...a Travel Log through Time, Space and Identity (1996-98), which is based on Virginia Woolf's Orlando (1928). In a virtual environment the birth of the gendered subject implies a widening of Western aesthetics toward the construction of a critical discourse on digital art that would study the spatial performance between user and media and between media themselves, that is, a kinaesthetic interperformativity.
