L’analyse des principales expériences de participation des Cris de la Baie-James aux processus de décision relatifs à l’exploitation des ressources forestières montre une amélioration certaine de la répartition du pouvoir entre les acteurs cris et non autochtones en ce qui concerne la juridiction et les structures de gestion. Sur le plan pratique, cependant, des limites à la prise en compte de la diversité culturelle persistent, liées notamment au mode de communication et de prise de décision.

Abstract

The analysis of the principal experiences of participation by the James Bay Crees in the processes of decision-making and action relative to the exploitation afforest resources reveals a certain improvement in the distribution of power between Cree agents and non-natives at the level of jurisdiction and management. Practically, however, limits to the realization of cultural diversity persist, linked particularly to the modes of communication and decision-making.
