L’étude du Québec fait l’objet d’un intérêt croissant à l’étranger, souvent au grand étonnement des Québécois eux-mêmes qui s’interrogent sur les raisons d’un tel essor, non seulement dans des pays avec lesquels ils ont des rapports de proximité politique, culturelle ou géographique comme la France ou les États-Unis, mais également avec des pays éloignés comme la Russie, le Brésil, l’Inde ou la Chine. À quand remonte cet intérêt pour les études québécoises? Comment s’est-il institutionnalisé? Quelles en sont les filiations culturelles et scientifiques?

Abstract

The study of Quebec is of increasing interest abroad. This is often to the astonishment of Quebecers themselves who wonder at the reasons for such a development, not only in countries which are politically, culturally or geographically proximate, like France and the United States, but also in distant countries like Russia, Brazil, India and China. When did this interest for Quebec Studies begin? How has it been institutionalized? What are its cultural and scientific affiliations?
