Résumé

La femme écrivaine du vingtième siècle a dû sacrifier ce qui était considéré comme féminin pour accéder à une carrière littéraire, la capacité de procréer étant jugée incompatible avec la capacité de créer. Cette incompatibilité se mesure de façon tangible lorsqu’on observe l’évolution du personnage de la femme écrivaine dans la fiction écrite par des femmes. Nous présentons l’évolution de ce personnage en prenant appui sur des indicateurs qui nous aident à mesurer des changements survenus au cours de cette évolution (le statut conjugal, le statut maternel et la production littéraire). D’exclue sociale qu’elle était, l’écrivaine fictive achève, dans les années quatre-vingt, d’intégrer les structures sociales qui permettent maintenant son existence.

Abstract

The woman writer in the twentieth century had to sacrifice what was considered as feminine in order to obtain access to a literary career, the ability to procreate being deemed as incompatible with the ability to create. This incompatibility is measured in a tangible way when one observes the evolution of the character of the woman writer in the fiction written by women. We will be presenting the evolution of this character by using indicators which help us to evaluate the changes which have arisen over the course of this evolution (conjugal status, marital status, and literary production). In the 1980s, starting as a social outcast, the fictional female writer achieved a certain integration into the social structures which now make her existence possible.
