Le présent article explique comment relever le défi de créer un nouveau concept de bibliothèque à l’ère numérique. Une approche pragmatique consiste à aborder trois vagues de changements : le paysage médiatique, la création de nouveaux services de bibliothèque et la nécessité d’un changement organisationnel. Le programme modèle danois pour les bibliothèques publiques y est décrit comme outil pour gérer la transformation de la bibliothèque traditionnelle en un nouveau type d’institution et un certain nombre d’exemples danois sont présentés.

Abstract

This article discusses how to manage the challenges associated with the creation of a new library concept in the digital age. A pragmatic approach helps deal with the three sequences of changes: the media landscape, the creation of new library services, and the need for organisational change. The Danish model of public libraries is sketched as an instrument to assist in the transition from the traditional library to a new kind of institution. A number of Danish examples are presented.
