Cet essai développe une « écriture queer audiovisuelle » afin de proposer une méditation sur la pornographie queer. Pour ce faire, l’autrice part d’une phrase utilisée par Joey Soloway dans son mémoire autobiographique She Wants It (2018) pour décrire un moment qui a précédé la rédaction qu’iel allait faire avec Eileen Myles du Thanksgiving Paris Manifesto (2015) dont les premières lignes prennent pour objet la pornographie dite mainstream. Si Soloway et Myles sont en position de sensibiliser un grand nombre de lecteur·trice·s sur la nécessité de développer une pornographie éthique, leur texte ignore cependant l’existence des manifestes féministes et queer qui l’ont précédé, ainsi que l’importante production de pornographie non mainstream, féministe, queer et éthique déjà existante. Ainsi, pour répondre au « faux radicalisme » de Soloway et Myles, et après avoir mis en lumière le problème fondamental de la pornographie queer qu’iels pointent, l’autrice convoque ce qu’elle considère être l’un des plus grands « succès » de la pornographie queer à ce jour : la franchise Crash Pad (2005–…) de Shine Louise Houston.

Abstract

This essay develops a form of “queer audiovisual writing” in order to offer a meditation on queer pornography. To do so, the author takes as her starting point a phrase of Joey Soloway’s in their autobiographical memoir She Wants It (2018) to describe a moment preceding the writing of the Thanksgiving Paris Manifesto (2015) with Eileen Myles. The opening lines of this work take as their subject so-called mainstream pornography. Although Soloway and Myles were in a position to make a large number of readers aware of the need to develop ethical pornography, their text nevertheless paid little heed to the feminist and queer manifestos which preceded it, or to the significant amount of non-mainstream, feminist, queer and ethical pornography already in existence. To respond, therefore, to the “false radicalism” of Soloway and Myles, and after having highlighted the fundamental problem of queer pornography they raise, the author discusses what she considers one of the greatest “success stories” of queer pornography to date: Shine Louise Houston’s Crash Pad series (2005-…).
