The role of the accounting profession as regards regulatory bodies. 2. International accounting. 3. Accounting in face of the development of new financial tools. 4. Evaluating a company and the forecast for the future. Mr. Castonguay provides thought-provoking and concrete channels to be explored by companies which operate in several provinces or abroad.

The following article by Mr. Daniel J. Gervais provides a clear and concise study of international reinsurance law: its goals, methods and regulations. As the author examines reinsurance law at the international level, Canadian control measures are not discussed. We have therefore asked our collaborator to address this question in a subsequent study, as well as other aspects of reinsurance, particularly facultative cessions which play an important role in international reinsurance contracts and practices as a source of reinsurance law and the rule of arbitration between insurers and reinsurers. In this original and well-documented work, the author discusses the forms of reinsurance and the legal framework in which reinsurance operates. He also examines various international and regional regulations.

Under the Securities Act (Quebec) and the Canada Business Corporations Act, the senior management and the directors of a corporation which has made a public issue or whose shares are listed on the stock market cannot use insider information to their advantage for as long as such information has not been publicly disclosed. According to law, they are considered insiders and may be fiable to heavy penalties if they fail to abide by its provisions. In the following article, the author discusses the duties of insiders.

Most of Canada's railroads were built at the end of the nineteenth century and at the beginning of the twentieth. Construction first began on a small scale at the local level and later expanded to longer fines which led to the creation of the Intercolonial, then the Canadian Pacific and finally other fines which were joined to form our national railways.
