Résumé
Les nouvelles réalités socioculturelles de la société québécoise offrent l’occasion de repenser les cadres de travail habituels dans le domaine de la santé mentale, en particulier pour ce qui concerne le processus de l’évaluation clinique. Bien qu’elle conserve une certaine part d’objectivité, l’évaluation est en effet fortement teintée par le contexte socioculturel au sein duquel se sont développés nos outils théoriques et nos grilles évaluatives. Les mandats respectifs des institutions auxquelles sont rattachés les intervenants colorent également les façons de penser et de faire des professionnels. Dans cet article, les auteurs soulignent la nécessité de la prise en compte de ces dimensions institutionnelles et politiques au-delà de la simple reconnaissance des différences culturelles en jeu. Pour faciliter ce travail, divers outils sont possibles ; les auteurs présentent ici un type de séminaire bien particulier, appelé à la fois « transculturel » et « interinstitutionnel » puisqu’il s’agit de discussions de cas qui impliquent des patients de cultures diverses et qui s’adressent aux intervenants appartenant à des institutions aux mandats très distincts (Centres Jeunesse, CLSC).
Abstract
The new sociocultural realities of Québec society provide the opportunity to rethink practices in the field of mental health, particularly in regards to clinical assessments. Although remaining in part objective, clinical assessments are invariably strongly coloured by the sociocultural contexts where theoretical approaches and practical assessment tools are developed. Clinicians’ institutional mandates also influence the ways in which they consider and proceed with the process of assessing. This article highlights the necessity of taking into account institutional and political dimensions in addition to simply recognizing the cultural differences at play. One means of facilitating this understanding is a “transcultural” and “inter-institutional” seminar for clinicians from various institutions (CLSCs or Youth protection agencies) with distinct mandates that revolves around case discussions concerning people of diverse cultural origins.

Las nuevas realidades socioculturales de la sociedad quebequense ofrecen la ocasión de volver a considerar los marcos de trabajo habituales en el campo de la salud mental, en particular, en lo que concierne a los procesos de evaluación clínica. Aunque conserva una cierta objetividad, la evaluación está de hecho marcada fuertemente por el contexto sociocultural, al seno del cual se han desarrollado nuestras herramientas teóricas y tablas de evaluación. Los mandatos respectivos de las instituciones, de las que dependen los interventores, también dan color a las formas de pensar y de actuar de los profesionales. En este artículo, los autores subrayan la necesidad de tomar en cuenta estas dimensiones institucionales y políticas más allá del simple reconocimiento de las diferencias culturales en juego. Para facilitar este trabajo, son posibles varias herramientas; los autores presentan un tipo de seminario muy particular, llamado a la vez “transcultural” e “interinstitucional” porque se trata de discusiones de caso que implican a pacientes de culturas diversas y que están dirigidas a los interventores que pertenecen a instituciones con mandatos muy distintos (Centres Jeunesse, CLSC).
Resumo
As novas realidades socioculturais da sociedade quebequense dão a ocasião de repensar os ambientes de trabalho habituais na área da saúde mental, principalmente no que diz respeito ao processo de avaliação clínica. Apesar de conservar uma certa objetividade, a avaliação é, de fato, muito marcada pelo contexto sociocultural dentro do qual são desenvolvidas nossas ferramentas teóricas e os quadros de avaliação. Os mandatos respectivos das instituições, às quais estão associados os prestadores de serviço, também influenciam as maneiras de pensar e de fazer dos profissionais. Neste artigo, os autores ressaltam a necessidade de levar em consideração estas dimensões institucionais e políticas além do simples reconhecimento das diferenças culturais em jogo. Para facilitar este trabalho, várias ferramentas são disponíveis; os autores apresentam, aqui, um tipo de seminário bem particular, chamado ao mesmo tempo de “transcultural” e de “interinstitucional” já que trata-se de discussões de casos que implicam pacientes de culturas diversas e que são direcionadas aos prestadores de serviço que pertencem a instituições com mandatos muito distintos (Centros da Criança e do Adolescente, CLSC).
