Résumé
Cet article ne portera pas directement sur l’Acadie, mais sur un domaine qui doit la concerner précisément en raison de l’importance qu’y joue l’histoire, à savoir l’épistémologie de l’histoire. Il aborde celle-ci à travers l’un de ses programmes de recherche, celui de l’épistémologie naturalisée de l’histoire. Nous identifions au moyen d’une enquête historico-documentaire les enjeux que la naturalisation de l’épistémologie de l’histoire soulève et considérons, dans une perspective méta-épistémologique, comment l’épistémologie naturalisée de l’histoire conceptualise l’exercice même de l’épistémologie de l’histoire. Nous nous demandons si la (re)conceptualisation de l’épistémologie de l’histoire dont est porteuse l’épistémologie naturalisée de l’histoire – prenant l’histoire à la fois comme objet et démarche – pourrait renouveler le dialogue entre deux univers de savoir qui se sont largement ignorés, à savoir ceux des historiens et des philosophes préoccupés par ce que faire de l’histoire veut dire. Ce faisant, notre étude s’inscrit dans une réflexion plus large sur la relation entre discipline historique et théorie de l’histoire.

Abstract
This article is not about Acadia per se, but about a domain that must concern it precisely because of the role history plays there, that is epistemology of history. It examines it through one of its research programs: naturalized epistemology of history. We identify by means of an historical and documentary inquiry the issues raised by the naturalization of epistemology and consider, in a meta-epistemological perspective, how naturalized epistemology of history conceptualizes the very exercise of epistemology of history. We ask if the (re)conceptualization of epistemology of history carried by the naturalized program―for which history is both an object and a method―could renew the dialogue between two knowledge universes that have been largely ignoring themselves, the one of historians and the one of philosophers, and have been preoccupied by what making historical knowledge means. In doing so, our study is part of a larger ongoing reflection on the relation between the discipline of history and the theory of history.
