Faire dire ou faire advenir une parole : quelques réflexions sur l’entretien de recherche Getting people to say something or making a speech happen: Some thoughts on the research interview

Résumé

Avec l’expérience, la conduite d’entretiens de recherche paraît relativement aisée. Pourtant, il reste nécessaire de s’interroger sur ce que l’on fait lorsque l’on mène un entretien si on ne veut pas le réduire à un simple recueil de données : s’interroger sur la construction de la recherche, sur la posture du chercheur, sur la rencontre avec l’Autrui sollicité. Mais il faut aussi s’interroger sur ce qui est en jeu pour cet Autrui, sur les effets d’imposition, sur les bénéfices pour cet Autrui. Nous proposons des éléments de réflexion autour de ces différentes questions pour aborder une approche possible de l’entretien comme dialogue et mise en récit.

Abstract

With experience, conducting research interviews may seem relatively easy. Yet, if you don’t want to reduce an interview to mere data collection, you still need to ask yourself what you are during when conducting the interview: you need to ask yourself about the construction of the research, about the researcher’s posture, about the meeting with the other party you’ve solicited. But we also need to ask ourselves what is at stake for this other party, what are the imposition effects, and what are the benefits for the other party. We offer ideas about these various issues in favour of a possible approach to interviewing as dialogue and storytelling.
