Résumé
La crise de la COVID-19 a conduit à des ruptures importantes des existences humaines. La méthodologie a été adaptée à partir de recherches menées à la suite de l’accident nucléaire de Tchernobyl en 1986. Une analogie fondée sur l’invisibilité entre les contaminations radioactives par le césium 137 et les contaminations virales par SARS-CoV-2 souligne que les personnes ont besoin de construire le sens de la crise, de faire face aux émotions négatives et à l’incertitude pour espérer un avenir meilleur. Les participants (n = 784) ont rempli un questionnaire, intitulé « Moi : hier, aujourd’hui et demain », décrivant leur vécu pendant le confinement sanitaire en 2020. Les principaux résultats ont démontré la perte de repères des participants, le vécu de la peur et un besoin de changement positif dans le futur. Cette recherche indique la complémentarité des orientations émotionnelles globales de la peur et de l’espoir qui transcendent les individus et la société pendant les temps incertains de la crise de la COVID-19.

Abstract
Crisis of COVID-19 has led to important breakdowns in human existence. The methodology has been adapted from research conducted following Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident in 1986. An invisibility-based analogy between radioactive contaminations with caesium-137 and SARS-CoV-2 viral contaminations highlights that lay people need to construct the meaning of the crisis, cope with negative emotions and uncertainty, and hope for a better future. The participants (n = 784) completed a questionnaire, entitled “Me: yesterday, today and tomorrow”, describing their living experience during the pandemic lockdown in 2020. The main results demonstrated participants’ loss of landmarks, experience of fear, and need for positive change in the future. This research indicates the complementarity of global emotional orientations of fear and hope that transcend individuals and society in uncertain times of the COVID-19 crisis.
