Abstract
This study explores how cultural context influences the work practices of millennial entrepreneurs in Russia, Latvia, Lithuania and Kazakhstan.
Using theories of culture and planned behaviour, interviews were conducted to address the research question: “How does cultural context influence millennial entrepreneurs’ work practices in Russia, Latvia, Lithuania and Kazakhstan?”
Findings reveal commonalities (e.g., communication style, trust-building, autonomy) and divergences (e.g., initiative, dialogue initiation, affiliations), indicating cultural values significantly affect Hofstede’s framework country scores. Two cliques hindering entrepreneurship were identified. The study highlights that collectivism does not extend to work practices and communication, questioning Hofstede’s framework relevance. The contribution lies in providing empirical data in an understudied context, serving as a benchmark for further research on cultural shifts in international management.

Résumé
Cette étude explore l’impact culturel sur les pratiques professionnelles des entrepreneurs millénaires en Russie, Lettonie, Lituanie et Kazakhstan.
En se basant sur les théories culturelles et comportementales, des entretiens ont répondu à la question, Comment la culture influence-t-elle les pratiques de travail de ces entrepreneurs ?
Les résultats montrent des similitudes (communication, confiance, autonomie) et des différences (initiative, dialogue, affiliations), montrant que les valeurs culturelles influencent les scores de Hofstede. Deux obstacles entrepreneuriaux sont identifiés. L’étude souligne que le collectivisme ne se reflète pas dans le travail et la communication, remettant en question Hofstede. Cette recherche fournit des données empiriques dans un contexte peu étudié, servant de référence pour d’autres études sur les changements culturels en management international.

Resumen
Este estudio explora el impacto cultural en las prácticas laborales de los empresarios millennials de Rusia, Letonia, Lituania y Kazajstán.
A partir de teorías culturales y conductuales, las entrevistas respondieron a la pregunta: ¿Cómo influye la cultura en las prácticas laborales de estos empresarios?
Los resultados muestran similitudes (comunicación, confianza, autonomía) y diferencias (iniciativa, diálogo, afiliaciones), lo que demuestra que los valores culturales influyen en las puntuaciones de Hofstede. Se identifican dos obstáculos empresariales. El estudio pone de relieve que el colectivismo no se refleja en el trabajo y la comunicación, lo que cuestiona a Hofstede. Esta investigación aporta datos empíricos en un contexto poco estudiado, sirviendo de referencia para otros estudios sobre el cambio cultural en la gestión internacional.
