Abstract
The lack of clarity in the conceptualization of opportunity is a major reason why research on the nexus between individuals and opportunity has made little progress. It is mainly the debate about the subjective and objective aspects of opportunity that makes it difficult to develop a coherent and solid entrepreneurial theory. We tackle this problem by mobilizing the Strong Structuration Theory which enables a thorough analysis of this social process. Based on a qualitative study involving the creation of eight companies, we provide a response to the puzzle of entrepreneurial theory by proposing a re-conceptualization of the nexus between individuals and opportunity.
