Biographical note
Dorothy Stern is an educator, interior designer, architect, and urban planner. She is currently a professor in the Interior Design Department at Algonquin College in Ottawa. Prior to becoming a full-time educator, Dorothy practised as an interior designer, exhibit designer, and urban designer, in Canada as well as internationally. At Algonquin College, she has been instrumental in spearheading several accreditation and curricular initiatives. She has twice been recognized with awards for excellence by the Algonquin College Students’ Association. She is a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) site visitor, a registered member of the Association of Registered Designers of Ontario (ARIDO), Interior Designers of Canada (IDC), and Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC). Dorothy holds a Bachelor of Interior Design from the University of Manitoba, a Master in Environmental Studies from York University, and a Master of Architecture from McGill University.
