Wilson Chacko Jacob’s For God or Empire: Sayyid Fadl and the Indian Ocean World (Stanford University Press, 2019) was awarded the Wallace K. Ferguson Prize by the Canadian Historical Association in 2020. The award recognizes the best scholarly book in a field other than Canadian history. The contributors to this roundtable met virtually in the summer of 2021, as part of the annual meeting of the CHA. The four contributions below derive from that meeting.
