Résumé
Les recherches récentes sur les séquences tardiglaciaires et holocènes du bassin de la Somme sont basées sur des transects de vallée complétés par les données provenant de l'étude de nombreux profils archéologiques. La confrontation des données stratigraphiques et des résultats des études bioclimatiques débouche sur un schéma global d'évolution des vallées du bassin de la Somme entre la fin du Pléniglaciaire weichsélien et le milieu de l'Holocène. Cette évolution se caractérise par d'importants changements de la morphologie et de la sédimentation fluviatile en relation avec les modifications climatiques. La première modification majeure se situe à la limite Pléniglaciaire supérieur - Tardiglaciaire (13 000 BP) où la réponse des cours d'eau à l'amélioration climatique se traduit par une incision importante des dépôts weichséliens et le passage d'un système de chenaux en tresses à un système fluviatile de transition à multiples chenaux stables. Les premiers dépôts organiques qui remplissent ces chenaux sont datés de l'interstade de Bölling. Au cours de l'Allerød, on observe le dépôt de limons organiques en relation avec un système à large chenal unique à méandres. La fin du Tardiglaciaire se manifeste ensuite par la mise en place dans l'ensemble de la vallée d'un remplissage de limons calcaires attribués au Dryas récent. Ces dépôts de décantation sont alimentés par le débordement périodique d'un chenal unique à méandres. Une seconde phase d'incision majeure, dans un chenal unique à méandres, marque le début de l'Holocène vers 10 000 BP. Ensuite, entre le Préboréal et le milieu de l'Atlantique, l'ensemble de la vallée est progressivement colmaté par une tourbière bordée par de petits chenaux latéraux où se déposent des limons organiques. Enfin, une dernière phase d'incision, dont l'origine climatique n'est pas évidente, apparaît au sein de l'Atlantique entre 6000 et 5500 BP environ. Cette dernière modification importante du régime fluviatile est suivie par le dépôt de limons organiques lités dans un large chenal unique à méandres, et le développement massif des tufs.
Abstract
Recent research on Late Glacial and Holocene sequences of the Somme basin are based on large sections of alluvial plains completed by investigation of numerous archeological profiles. Field and bioclimatic datas confrontation result in a global vision of the Somme basin valleys evolution between the end of the Weichselian Upper Pleniglacial and the middle of the Holocene. Within this evolution it is possible to identify important changes in fluvial morphology and sedimentation linked to climatic modifications. The first major modification of fluvial morphology is dated from the the Upper Pleniglacial/Lateglacial transition (13 000 BP): valley response to the climatic improvement is marked by an incision and the passage from a braided channel pattern to a transitional system (multi-channel). The first organic deposits infilling these channels are dated from the Bölling interstadial. During the Allerød we observe the deposition of organic silts in a large single channel system. The end of the Lateglacial, is characterized by a very important infilling of the entire valley by fine calcareous silts attributed to the Younger Dryas. These overbank deposits are linked to the overflowing of a single meandering channel. A second major incision phase, in a single channel, is related at the beginning of the Hololcene at about 10 000 BP. Then, between the Preboreal and the middle of the Atlantic (10 300 to about 5 500 BP), the entire valley is progressively infilled by a peat bog with two lateral channels where organic silts were deposited. Finally, a last phase of erosion and incision, whose climatic origin is not obvious, appears in the Atlantic between about 6000 and 5500 BP. This last fluvial pattern modification is followed by the deposition of laminated organic silts in a large single channel and by an important calcareous tufa development.
Zusammenfassung
Neuere Untersuchungen spätglazialer und holozäner Abfolgen aus dem Somme-Becken basieren auf groben Aufschlüssen (150-600 m Länge) in den alluvialen Ebenen. Die Untersuchungen werden durch zahlreiche archäologische Profile ergäntz. Geländebeobachtungen und bioklimatische Ergebnisse resultieren in einer ersten globalen Sicht der Entwicklung des Sommetals zwischen dem Ende des Weichsel-Pleniglazials und dem mittleren Holozän. Innerhalb der Entwicklung ist es möglich, bedeutende Veränderungen in der fluviatilen Morphologie und Sedimentation, verbunden mit klimatischen Veränderungen zu erkennen. Die erste Hauptmodifikation der fluvialen Morphologie ist in dem Übergang Oberes Pleniglazial/Spätglazial (13 000 Jahre vor Heute) datiert. Die Talveränderungen aufgrund der Klimaverbesserungen sind durch die Tiefenerosion der Somme und dem Übergang von einem "braided river" Flußsystem hin zu einem Übergangssystem "multi channel pattern" charakterisiert. Die ersten organischen Ablagerungen, die diese Kanäle füllen, werden in das Bölling-Intersta- dial gestellt. Aus dem Allerød stammen Ablagerungen aus organischen Silten in einzelnen grossen Kanälen. Das Ende des Spätglazials, Jüngere Dryas, wird durch die sehr wichtige Ablagerung von feinkörnigen, kalkhaltigen Silten im gesamten Tal charakterisiert. Diese "overbank" sedimente werden mit dem Überfließen eines Kanals in Verbindung gebracht. Zwischen dem Präboreal und der mitte des Atlantikums (10 300 bis etwa 5500 jahre vor heute) wurde das gesamte Tal kontinuierlich durch Torfe aufgefüllt. Desweiteren wurden in zwei lateralen Kanälen organische Silte sedimentiert. In einer letzten Phase kommt es zur Tiefenerosion. Der klimatische Grund für diese sedimentologischen Prozesse während des Atlantikums vor 5500 jahren ist nicht ganz klar. Dieses letzte fluviatile Ereignis wird durch die Ablagerung von geschichteten organischen Silten in einem einzelnen groben Kanal und der Entwicklung von Kalktuffen abgelöst.
