Résumé
Faisant l’hypothèse que l’émergence de la francophonie, comme domaine institutionnel et objet de discours, n’aurait pas été possible sans l’action des réseaux, cet article se penche sur le rôle des revues dans la cristallisation des liens entre les écrivains québécois et les littératures « étrangères ». Les exemples de La Nouvelle Relève et de Liberté montrent comment, dans le premier cas, la Deuxième Guerre mondiale et la trame internationale des réseaux personnalistes mènent à un projet d’anthologie redessinant la carte de la poésie française dans le monde et comment, dans le deuxième cas, la revue est tendue entre deux formes d’ouverture sur l’étranger, entre la francophonie et l’universalisme. Cette reconstitution historique permet aussi de voir que la constitution d’une aire littéraire francophone, loin d’être un processus irréversible, connaît des phases d’accélération et de déstructuration.
Abstract
Positing that the emergence of the Francophonie, as an institutional domain and as an object of discourse, would not have been possible without the action of networks, this article examines the role of literary journals in solidifying the links between Quebec writers and “foreign” literatures. The examples of La Nouvelle Relève and Liberté show how, in the first case, the Second World War and the international framework of personalist networks led to the publication of an anthology which redrew the global map of French poetry and, in the second case, the journal was pulled between two forms of openness to the foreign, between the Francophonie and universalism. This historical reconstruction also shows how the creation of a francophone literary sphere, far from being an irreversible process, experienced periods of acceleration and breakdown.
