La mort en quatrième vitesse Ou comment annoncer sa fin pour tenter d’en finir

Résumé

À travers deux textes d’Hubert Aquin dans lesquels le narrateur se prépare à son suicide, à travers quelques romans d’Hervé Guibert qui dévoile sa mort prochaine du sida, on verra comment l’annonce de sa propre mort nous donne à réfléchir sur l’accélération temporelle qui conduit le sujet à sa fin. Comment se voir et se représenter mort ? Dans quelle temporalité entre celui ou celle qui peut annoncer sa mort à venir ? C’est à ces questions que le présent article tente de répondre.

Abstract

Through two texts by Hubert Aquin in which the narrator prepares himself for his own suicide and through some novels by Hervé Guibert, who reveals his impending death from AIDS, we will see how heralding one’s own death gives us food for thought as to the acceleration of time that brings the subject to his or her end. How can we see and represent ourselves as being dead? Into which temporality do they who foreshadow their own approaching death enter? These are the questions we shall attempt to answer in this article.
