Abstract
Nathalie Sarraute's -poetics stands at the core of a tension between the unnamed and the code that is language, the result is a texte driven by the dynamics between tropism and the commonplace (taken in a broad definition). In Portrait d'un inconnu, one of the phenomenon the text bears to the attention of commonplace is the serialization of places-names. A microreading of such a phenomenon lets hear the conflict between the characters and through the implicitness what is at stake and said/nonsaid in those hackneyed conversational sentences.
