Biographical note
Vincent Marquis is an art historian, human rights advocate and writer based in Montreal. He is currently the Development Coordinator at the new media arts centre Eastern Bloc, Project Coordinator at Evidence for Democracy, and Officer for South Sudan at the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies. His main field of research is contemporary visual and political culture, and in particular: the intersection of art, architecture and urban planning; moral theory and applied ethics; the theory and practice of activism; the notion of spatial critique; and the socio-political functions and responsibilities of museums today.

Vincent Marquis est historien de l’art, défenseur des droits de la personne et auteur ; il vit à Montréal. Il est actuellement coordinateur de développement au centre des arts en nouveaux médias Eastern Bloc, coordinateur de projets à Evidence for Democracy et « Officer for South Sudan » au Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies. Son principal champ de recherche est la culture visuelle et politique contemporaine, plus précisément la croisée de l’art, de l’architecture et de l’urbanisme ; la théorie morale et l’éthique appliquée ; la théorie et la pratique de l’activisme ; la notion de critique spatiale ; et les fonctions et responsabilités sociopolitiques des musées d’aujourd’hui.
