Résumé
Dans un essai publié en 1995, le philosophe français Robert Damien examine les relations qui se sont établies entre le pouvoir politique et les bibliothèques et, plus largement, entre l’État et la communication écrite. Il met en lumière l’oeuvre de Gabriel Naudé qui publia en 1627 le premier grand traité de bibliothéconomie en langue française. Selon l’auteur, Naudé annonce la modernité des bibliothèques et pose les questions fondamentales et toujours pertinentes de la place du livre et des bibliothécaires dans les rouages du fonctionnement de l’État.
Abstract
Robert Damien, the French philosopher, published an essay in 1995 in which he examines the relationship between political power and libraries and, more generally, between the state and the written word. He highlights a 1627 library science treatise published in French by Gabriel Naudé. According to Damien, Naudé foresaw the modernity of libraries and raised basic issues that are still relevant, to wit the function of books and libraries in the administration of a nation.
Resumen
En un ensayo publicado en 1995, el filósofo francés Robert Damien examina las relaciones que se han establecido entre el poder político y las bibliotecas y, particularmente, entre el Estado y la comunicación escrita. Hace resaltar la obra de Gabriel Naudé que publica en 1627 el primer gran tratado de biblioteconomía en lengua francesa. Según el autor, Naudé anuncia la modernidad de las bibliotecas y hace las preguntas fundamentales y siempre pertinentes a propósito del lugar del libro y de los bibliotecarios en el funcionamiento del Estado.
