De la révolution industrielle à la planétarisation managériale

Résumé

Le présent article cherche à appréhender la nature du management scientifique, ainsi que les ressorts et les conséquences de son expansion. Pour cela, il l’inscrit dans la perspective plus large de la révolution industrielle qui constitue un bouleversement anthropologique aussi radical que le fut la révolution néolithique ; désormais, c’est l’efficacité qui fait office de boussole pour les sociétés modernes. En outre, l’article met en exergue que l’« organisation », concept scientifique issu de la biologie moderne, s’avère être la catégorie centrale du management contemporain, catégorie à partir de laquelle il déploie tant ses théories que ses pratiques. Le rôle matriciel de la cybernétique est alors examiné, ainsi que les conséquences de l’extension du domaine de l’organisation : à savoir la destitution des institutions, qu’elles soient sociales, politiques ou culturelles.

Abstract

This article tries to understand the nature of management, as well as the motives and the consequences of its expansion. First, we incorporate the management to the global framework of industrial revolution that constitutes an anthropological disruption as radical as was the Neolithic one; henceforth, efficiency is the compass guiding the modern societies. Moreover, we show that “organization”, a scientific concept stemming from the modern biology, is the central category of current management, category from which it deploys its theories and its practices. The founding role of cybernetics is then examined, as well as the consequences of the hegemony of organizations, that is to say the destitution of institutions, whether they are social, political or cultural.
