Aliénation et reconquête : le personnage étranger dans La Nuit de Ferron

Résumé

La Nuit de Jacques Ferron peut être considéré comme un roman novateur, en ce qui concerne la représentation de l’étranger, particulièrement quand on l’étudié dans le contexte du mouvement Parti pris et de sa quête d’une unanimité culturelle ayant comme objectif « la naissance de l’homme québécois » (Paul Chamberland). En associant « l’arrivée en ville » du roman québécois à la représentation hétérotopique de l’étranger, ce texte de Ferron annonce par ailleurs les interrogations interculturelles contemporaines de la société québécoise.

Summary

"La Nuit" by Jacques Ferron can be considered an innovative novel as far as the representation of the strangers is concerned, particularly when one studies it within the context of the Parti-pris movment and its quest for cultural unanimity with the specific objective of "the birth of québécois man" (P. Chamberland). By linking "the arrival in town" of the québécois novel to the heterotopic representation of the stranger, this text by Ferron also introduces a number of contemporary intercultural questions regarding québécois society.
