Résumé
La fugue en centre de réadaptation inquiète les autorités et les familles, car elle interfère avec les efforts de réadaptation en cours et expose les jeunes fugueurs à diverses situations pouvant mettre leur sécurité ou leur développement à risque. Bien que la multitude de facteurs menant à la fugue et les conséquences qui en découlent complexifient l’intervention, ces éléments représentent de potentiels leviers d’intervention méritant qu’on s’y attarde. Il est toutefois nécessaire de les contextualiser en documentant les expériences vécues lors des fugues. À l’aide d’entrevues effectuées auprès d’un échantillon de 15 jeunes fugueurs de sexe masculin hébergés en centre de réadaptation (15-17 ans), la présente étude qualitative vise d’abord à décrire l’expérience vécue lors des fugues pour ensuite explorer l’influence du contexte de ces épisodes (avant et pendant) sur les expériences rapportées. Une analyse thématique des transcriptions des verbatims a fait ressortir différentes situations à risque rapportées par les jeunes fugueurs et a permis de faire émerger quatre profils d’expérience lors des épisodes de fugue qui se distinguent sur la base de leurs expériences vécues. Tous les profils expriment une insatisfaction en ce qui concerne le contexte de placement et une prédominance du contexte relationnel dans les expériences mentionnées. Ces résultats mettent de l’avant l’importance de saisir les moments d’instabilité (p. ex., modification d’une autorisation de sortie) et de prendre en considération les expériences propres aux différents profils lors des interventions.

Abstract
Youths running away from residential care centers worries authorities and families, as it interferes with ongoing rehabilitation efforts, while also exposing the runaways to a variety of situations where their safety or development can be put at risk. While intervention is complicated by both the multitude of factors that contribute to youths running away as well as the resulting consequences, these elements also represent noteworthy levers for potential intervention. Contextualizing these elements by documenting the experiences the youths face when running away is however necessary. Using interviews conducted with a sample of 15 young (15-17 years old) male runaways residing in a residential care center, this qualitative study first aims to describe the experience of running away in order to explore how the context (prior to and during) these episodes influenced the reported experiences. A thematic analysis of the interview transcripts reveals various risky situations reported by the young runaways and also brings to light four runaway experience profiles that can be distinguished on the basis of their lived experiences. Every one of the profiles mentions, as part of the reported experiences, dissatisfaction with the context of placement as well as the predominant role of the relational context. These results highlight the importance of seizing on moments of instability (e.g. the modification of an authorization to leave the residential care center) and of taking into account the specific experiences of different profiles during interventions.

Resumen
Las fugas de un centro de rehabilitación preocupan a las autoridades y a las familias porque estas interfieren con los esfuerzos de rehabilitación en curso y exponen a los jóvenes fugados a diversas situaciones que pueden poner en peligro su seguridad o su desarrollo. Aunque la multitud de factores que conducen a la fuga y las consecuencias que se derivan de ella hacen que la intervención sea más compleja, estos elementos representan potenciales ejes de intervención merecedores de nuestra atención. Sin embargo, es necesario contextualizarlos documentando las experiencias de los fugados. A partir de entrevistas llevadas a cabo con una muestra de 15 jóvenes varones fugados que viven en un centro de rehabilitación (15-17 años), el presente estudio cualitativo pretende, en primer lugar, describir la experiencia de la fuga y, a continuación, explorar la influencia del contexto de estos episodios (antes y durante) en las experiencias relatadas. Un análisis temático de las transcripciones de los verbatims puso de manifiesto diferentes situaciones de riesgo relatadas por los jóvenes fugados y permitió identificar cuatro perfiles de experiencia durante los episodios de fuga que se distinguen en función de sus experiencias vividas. Todos los perfiles apuntan a una insatisfacción con el contexto del internamiento y un predominio del contexto relacional en las experiencias relatadas. Estos resultados ponen de relieve la importancia de detectar los momentos de inestabilidad (por ejemplo, el cambio de una autorización de salida) y de tener en cuenta las experiencias específicas de los distintos perfiles a la hora de intervenir.
