Un palais des congrès a récemment été construit au centre-ville de Philadelphie afin d'y insuffler un nouveau dynamisme. L'analyse que propose cet article s'inscrit dans un débat qui porte à la fois sur la pertinence de ce type d'équipements en matière de stratégie urbaine, et sur la délicate mise au point d'une gestion urbaine concertée à l'échelle métropolitaine.

Abstract

A convention center was recently built in Philadelphia, in the hope that it would bring about urban and economic rejuvenation. This paper focuses on the real impact of this type of equipment within the context of a unified metropolitan System of government.
