Travail, espace, pouvoir dans les rizières du Kedah, Malaysia : réflexions sur la dépossession d’un territoire

Résumé

Dans un livre récent, Raffestin et Bresso ont souligné l'importance de considérer le rôle de l'espace et de sa forme construite, le territoire, d'une part dans la relation entre travail et pouvoir et, d'autre part, dans l'aliénation du premier par une forme délocalisée du second. Cette étude vérifie la pertinence de cette proposition à la lumière de l'examen de la modernisation de la riziculture paysanne dans la plaine du Kedah, située dans le nord-ouest de la péninsule malaise.

Abstract

In a recent book, Raffestin and Bresso have underlined the need to consider the role of space and of its constructed form, the territory, on the one hand in the relationship between work and power and, on the other, in the alienation of the former by a "delocalised form" of the latter. This study illustrates the pertinence of this proposition, through the examination of the modernization of peasant rice cultivation in the Kedah plain of peninsular Malaysia.
