La contradiction ethnie-nation : le cas des Miskitosau Nicaragua

Les Miskitos de la côte orientale de l'Amérique centrale se sont constitués comme groupe ethnique distinct après l'arrivée des Européens, dans la zone tampon entre les cotonialismes espagnol et britannique. La révolution sandiniste a fait éclater des contradictions nouvelles entre eux et les Ladinos (métis) majoritaires au Nicaragua : exode au Honduras de milliers d'entre eux, alliance avec \^ contra, déplacement forcé de populations ont marqué la côte orientale pendant les quatre années qu'a duré la lune armée. La paix revient peu à peu dans la région, après l'octroi d'un statut d'autonomie aux minorités ethniques de la côte.

The Ethnie-National Contradiction: thé Miskitos in Revolutionary Nicaragua

The Miskitos of the east coast of Central America coalesced into a distinct ethnic group after the arrival of the Europeans, this taking place in a buffer zone between the Spanish and British colonial empires. The Sandinista revolution created new contradictions between them and the Ladino majority. During four years of armed struggle thousands fled to Honduras, their leaders sided with the contras, and whole populations were displaced. Peace is now gradually returning to the region, after the granting of autonomous status to the ethnic minorities of the coast.
