La recherche anthropologique sur les autochtones colombiens est depuis longtemps divisée en deux blocs, thématiquement et géographiquement. Les Indiens des basses terres ont fait l'objet d'une " anthropologie de sauvetage " qui a produit d'excellentes études sur la vision du monde et l'ethno-science; mais elle s'est souvent désintéressée des conditions économiques et politiques qui mènent à l'extinction des groupes. Ceux des Andes, moins étudiés, ont fait l'objet de travaux concernant les structures agraires et la pénétration du capitalisme, alors qu'on a presque totalement négligé les systèmes autochtones de représentations qui jouent pourtant un rôle important dans les mouvements actuels.

Abstract

Anthropology and Indian Groups in Colombia

Anthropological research on Colombian Indians has long been divided, both thematically and geographically, into two areas. Lowland Indians have been the object of " salvage operations " which have produced excellent studies on their world view and ethnoscience, while ignoring the economic

and political conditions that lead to the extinction of native groups. Andean groups have been less studied, such research focussing on rural social structure and the impact of capitalist penetration, while neglecting how natives symbolically represent their world to themselves. Yet such < systems of representation " play an important role in present-day peasant movements of this region.
