About

La Revue de l'AQEFLS is a scientific journal devoted to the teaching of French as an additional language and related disciplines. Since 2020, the Revue has published a regular issue or a thematic issue annually. Submissions are reviewed in a double-blind process by experts in the field. Please note that the Revue does not charge any processing fees to potential authors.

Mission

To provide a platform for the dissemination of research on L2/Ln French learning produced by experienced and emerging researchers and teachers working in Quebec, Canadian, and international contexts in order to bridge the gap between research and practice in the field of L2/Ln French.

Commitment to open access

"By "open access" to [peer-reviewed research literature], we mean making it freely available on the public Internet, allowing anyone to read, download, copy, transmit, print, search or link to the full text of these articles, automatically analyze them for indexing, use them as data for software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from Internet access and use. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution and the only role of copyright in this context should be to guarantee authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited." (BOAI website)

La Revue de l'AQEFLS pursues a true open access policy in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative.

Information for contributors

Our readership

The target audience of this journal includes teachers, future teachers and researchers working in the field of teaching French as a second language.

Contributions

We welcome submissions in the following four categories.

  • Empirical articles. We accept manuscripts of 4000-5000 words maximum, including references.  Empirical articles should include the following sections: theoretical framework, methodology, results, discussion/conclusion, and references.
  • Pedagogical articles. We accept pedagogical manuscripts of 4000 words including references. You are strongly encouraged to share teaching materials related to your manuscript.
  • Book Reviews. Reviews of academic books related to the learning and teaching of French as a second language are welcome. They may come from related fields that could enrich our understanding of language learning. Potential authors should check with the publishers before submitting a review. Reviews should not normally exceed 1200 words, including references.

General guidelines

Contributors are encouraged to consider the following important factors when writing their articles:

  • Manuscripts should support our mission and be relevant to the readers of the Revue de l'AQEFLS.
  • Manuscripts should be well-written in French (meet writing standards) and peer-revised before submission.
  • Manuscripts must be formatted according to the APA 7th edition guidelines.
  • Manuscripts submitted must not have been submitted for publication in another journal.
  • Contributors may have only one manuscript as first author under consideration at a time.

Style

Manuscripts must be written in French and formatted according to APA guidelines. (To learn more, see the following document: APA Guide).

Each submission must include:

  • A title page with author information (full name, email, affiliation, title of paper)
  • An abstract of 150 to 200 words.
  • A list of keywords (4 to 6 words).
  • Manuscript and references: if you refer to your work, you must use your name, but describe the work using the 3rd person.  Do not replace your information with "XXX", as this practice can allow you to be indirectly identified.
  • Tables: please place them in the appropriate place in the text.

Submit your manuscript via email: publications@aqefls.org.
