« Entrée des artistes » porte sur la venue des premiers professionnels de théâtre. Après la Révolution américaine, des comédiens d’origine britannique et française quittèrent le Congrès pour la Couronne. Leurs efforts furent appuyés par les troupes de tournée du Boston Theatre. La plupart d’entre eux rentrèrent aux États-Unis avant la Guerre de 1812, mais ils furent relayés plus tard par des cirques-théâtres. Certains de ces professionnels contribuèrent à l’intégration d’auteurs et d’artistes locaux et à véhiculer — notamment l’acteur, journaliste et imprimeur William Moore — des valeurs post-colonisales. Ils ont fondé des écoles de danse, de musique et de théâtre.

Abstract

"Entrée des artistes" deals with the arrival of the first theatre professionals. After the American Revolution, a few comedians of British and French origin remained with the Crown instead going to the Congress. Their efforts were sustained by touring companies of the Boston Theatre. Most of them all returned to the United States before the 1812 War, but they were replaced later on by circus-theatres. Some of these professionals have contributed to the recognition of local authors and artistes and were instrumental—especially the actor, journalist and printer William Moore—in the discovery of post-colonial values. They founded danse, music and theatre schools.
