Résumé

Multiple, exaltant, paradoxal, le siècle d’or espagnol s’inscrit comme symbole de la liberté de créer. S’approprier ses grandes oeuvres et ses grands mythes, c’est, d’une certaine manière, réclamer pour soi le statut d’el Autor, ce créateur qui non seulement écrit, mais dirige, met en scène et apparaît, dans le motif du teatrum mundi, comme l’équivalent de Dieu. Ainsi, dans Le grand théâtre du monde, Jean-Pierre Ronfard, plus que d’adapter le chef-d’oeuvre de Calderon, cherche-t-il à affirmer les délices de la conquête, celle du pillard désinvolte qui puise là où il le souhaite, trouvant toujours moyen, à travers les mots des autres, d’exprimer sa propre vérité.

Abstract

Multifaceted, exuberant, paradoxical, the Spanish Golden Age is a symbol of creative freedom. The appropriation of major works and well known myths constitutes, in a certain measure, a claim to authorial status, to the role of creator who not only writes, but directs, produces and appears, within the motif of teatrum mundi, as the equivalent of god. Thus, in Le grand théâtre du monde, Jean-Pierre Ronfard more than adapts the major work of Calderon. He seeks also to affirm the joys of appropriation, that of the lighthearted plunderer who takes what he pleases, always finding, through the words of others, a way to express his own truth.
